Joe passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Cortland Memorial Hospital after becoming ill at home. Born, Sept. 25, 1964, he was the son of Jean Hart Fitzgibbons of Dryden and the late William Patrick Fitzgibbons. Joe was retired from the maintenance department of the New York State Armory. He was an avid sports fan who followed the Cornell Hockey team, the Boston Celtics and worshiped the New York Yankees. 

He was conversant in many details of each team. Joe enjoyed many trips with his family and had visited England, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands and Russia as well as many US locations. He was well know by many Drydenites and loved to visit his friends and “weigh in” and/or offer his opinion on the various aspects of life. Prior to a disabling condition he was an avid bicyclist. Joe was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and will be remembered for his generosity, his candid nature and being a friend to so many people. Joe was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
